All women are different
Their symptoms, needs, expectations and physiological responses are different. Yet they often have to accept a “one-size-fits-all” approach to hormone replacement, which is simply not good enough.
It is fundamental to understand that women require differing doses and combinations of hormones, delivered in different ways. Therefore, treatment should be made as individual as possible. This is at the heart of our treatment philosophy.
Mr Neale Watson, Consultant Gynaecologist
"Although treating the debilitating symptoms of menopause is extremely important it is also key to understand and acknowledge the real physiological changes brought about by decreasing hormone levels that take place during and after the menopause. We must therefore be proactive in ensuring that women have access to the most expert care".
Some symptoms of menopause can feel strangeDo you think it might be because of the menopause? Most of us are aware of the obvious signs of the change – no more monthly periods, and of course no more getting pregnant. However, if you're not sure whether a bodily change is just ageing, a normal sign of hormones, or something more serious, we've rounded up some of the more surprising symptoms of the menopause ...
Professor John Studd
The London PMS & Menopause Clinic is the legacy of Professor John Studd. Having now retired from clinical practice he is still acting in a medical advisory capacity. Professor Studd has been the UK pioneer and leading authority in the use of bio-identical hormones and their application in women's health. He has hand-picked the team of senior gynaecologists who now take over from him at The London PMS & Menopause Clinic.
Prof Studd has always been passionate about helping patients to have access to the latest medical information. He has written extensively for authoritative patient-facing media such as Total Health, as well as being extensively published across the gynaecological and endocrine scientific journals.
Confirming the optimism of HRT
Prof Studd pioneered the use of HRT and is internationally recognised as one of the world’s most authoritative and experienced gynaecologists specialising in the menopause. He has championed the use of hormone implants for women with osteoporosis or with severe depressive or sexual problems after the menopause, and as an almost routine method of treatment following hysterectomy.

I was treated by Mr. Savvas and Mr. Watson at The London PMS and Menopause Clinic for severe PMS / progesterone intolerance, a complicated and disabling condition which plagued me for 30 years. At all times I felt confident that I could trust in their expertise and my concerns were handled sensitively. It is anxiety reducing to understand that you are receiving the best care possible, from the most highly qualified doctors. My treatment eventually resulted in hysterectomy / oophorectomy, initially a daunting prospect, but one which I needn't have feared as the surgery was surprisingly easy. Having been dismissed or treated incorrectly by others for many years, my only regret is that I didn't find this clinic sooner. Lee Fisher
Professor Studd treated me with HRT - lots of oestrogen, a little progesterone and some testosterone to boost my sex drive - and I felt better within about a week. It made an incredible difference. Denise Welch
The big turning point in Denise's illness came when she went to see the Harley Street doctor, Professor Studd, and he said that the problem was her oestrogen levels, rather than her progesterone. It was a shock to think that she might have been suffering needlessly over the years. Vin (Denise's Dad)
Women of a certain age, rest assured there is a God (I call him Professor Studd) and there is an elixir for female wellbeing (it is oestrogen). If you’re enduring the sort of symptoms described, read up on hormone treatment, believe that things can be better and take action. Life is good; reclaim it. Giovanna Forte
After a few attempts at HRT with other clinics, the menopause specialists at the London PMS & Menopause Clinic got it right for me. I am so grateful to Professor Studd and the team. Susie, London
Trying to control the symptoms of my menopause was getting complicated. I needed the expertise of a top gynaecologist who had the necessary experience and expertise to understand what was going on and to treat my condition. Liz, London
Getting the specialist care from the experts at the London PMS & Menopause Clinic has literally changed my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Mel from Putney
